Moving Between Categories - Ability to Move FROM

Is there a way to move money FROM a category TO another category by right clicking and using the "move" feature?

Currently when you right-click on the category it will allow you specify an amount to move to another category, but not from another category.

For example, this would be especially useful if you could do this from the inspector when dealing with goals.  I dump all money from a side business into an "operation" category that I use to fund the rest of my side-business expenditures.  I would love to be able to instead of moving from TBB move from the operation category.  Currently the only way to do that is to manipulate the "operation" category and move to another category.  Maybe this is a toolkit feature?

  • I think you're talking about the move money tool, which if you click on the "available" amount, it will pop up a window that says "Move" and by default has the full amount of what's in your category, but you can modify the amount that you'd like to move.  Then select the category you'd like to move it to, and both categories are adjusted by the amount you moved.

If this isn't what you're asking for, please clarify.

And if you want to move it the opposite direction, you can put in a negative amount for what you'd like to move.

    • Bruce I'm running an internal poll now to find out who knew about this among staff. :)

Vibrant That's what happens when an app is designed by mathematicians or accountants. I am totally cool with using a negative number to change the direction of the transfer but I can see why it's not obvious to all.

Ceeses it makes perfect sense - it's the same as negative budgeting to send money back to TBB which I do all the time - but this use case never would have occurred to me. 😄

    • Vibrant Yes, and I've wanted a pretty UI for this, too. I like the negative move better. It's cooler.
