Linking my Account - Which amount is imported?

I linked my checking account, but the amount that was imported is a mystery.   FYI - I use Simple Bank, which has two "balances" if you will.  One is my *actual* balance and the other is my "Safe to Spend" balance, which refers to my balance minus any amount that has been allocated towards upcoming bills.  (Yes, there's some redundancy here, which I am still trying to grapple with).

Anyway, the amount that imported is not aligned with my true balance or my Safe to Spend balance.  I don't know where YNAB got it from.  My question is, what does the amount that's imported to YNAB represent? Are pending transactions included?

  • I bet the bank is reporting a starting balance that's being affected by pending transactions—but not in the same way as the Safe to Spend balance. And that means you'll want to edit it and change it to your actual balance.

Starting Balances do show up incorrectly every now and then, but this doesn't indicate there will be any issues moving forward. Fortunately, they can be edited manually by double clicking on it right in the account register
