Saved 3k this month!

How? Overtime and budgeting! Yes!

I went out today to do errands even though I had extra money to spend, I didn't want to spend any of it so I went straight home after doing errands.

No coffee. No snacks. No little purchase. 😛

  • Way to go!!  How long  did it take you to progress to this awesome maintenance state? :)  I've been working at my own path towards minimalism for about a year and a half now, so my recreational purchasing trips have dropped drastically.  But when it comes to budgeting, I'm just starting out. Once I get on top of my expenses and have month-old money, I want to put any overtime I get into long-term goals like debt reduction.

  • Hi Forest Green Guitar (09d39a7ed921) , only one month to save up 3k. This includes regular spending, we actually gave monetary gifts to people and charities, too.  We don't have any debt except our home.  So that really helps with cash flow. I think once you get a buffer, you start seeing more progress with your savings.

Way to go.  This is the oldest post I see. Are posts purged after 1 yr?

    • Hi Ben K. !

No, posts aren't purged after a year (this post is actually from October 2017). The forum just isn't that old yet. ;)

Faness ok, good to know.  I was just going by the 1 yr old tag on the posts.

    • Ben K. After the 1 year mark, it doesn't increase again until the 2 year mark. If you hover over the 1 year tag it'll give you the exact date. :)

Faness Thank you. I was trying looking around, seeing how far back things went. One of the posts recently was something about a YHAB4 community, separate from this one. That just made me curious.

    • Ben K. Here's a link to the older YNAB 4 Forum. It's for the desktop version of YNAB, so a few topics may be about different features, but that community has been around a lot longer if you want to take a peak. :)
