YNAB referral link???

Does YNAB still offer a referral option and I'm just missing the link...Or is the referral program no longer available?

Yes. It’s under your profile in the app—click on your email address on the bottom left on a computer.  Referrals give your friend a free month and you a free month.

When I click on my email address on the bottom left of my computer, this is all I see...No Referrals?

Moots Since you are a Toolkit user, you sure you don't have the referrals link hidden via the Toolkit settings? (Toolkit settings > General > Hide Referral Banner). The referral link should be directly above your email address, not in the menu, as far as I know?

Moots sorry Ben has steered you more correctly. Above your email, you should see something that says "Share YNAB. Get YNAB free."

Ben  Oops!  You are correct Sir...GOOD CATCH! Thanks!

I have little to no memory of turning that option on...It's tough getting old. LOL!

  • Hi, Moots

The referral candy info is on this page here But I don't know if the referal rewards petered out (and they neglected to remove the web page) or what is happening because I don't see the ability to provide a referal link from my profile either.

HappyDance , Yeah...I'm afraid that might be the case.  I've used the link before, but now it's nowhere to be found.  In trying to search for an answer, I found the same page you linked, but thinking that might just be old news!

For me, the referral link is directly above my email address in the bottom left corner of the desktop app. It takes me to this page: https://app.youneedabudget.com/referral_program

Ben  and  WordTenor ...Thanks!  I think I've cracked the mystery...Chrome browser = NO REFERRAL LINK!  IE = Referral Link present!

Moots ...Still sounds like a Toolkit issue to me, since it's definitely there in my version of Chrome.

    • I can confirm that it is missing for me as well.  Chrome 67.0.3396.87 on macOS.  I also can't find the referral link through the mobile app either.  I am not a toolkit user (not even installed).

I pay through itunes instead of directly to ynab.  I don't know if that makes a difference.

I have a ticket open with YNAB and will update if/when I get an answer!

    • Aquamarine Inspector The iTunes subscription is the reason you aren't seeing the referral link on your account. Our Referral Program is only valid on subscriptions started through YNAB directly, because we don’t have the ability to add free time to accounts managed by any other company.

I know that's not the best news, but if you do refer to someone who ends up subscribing through YNAB, send us an email with their account email address and we can add additional time to their account.

  • I didn't subscribe through another company, and I don't have the referral link in Chrome with or without the toolkit, nor does it appear in IE nor Microsoft Edge, nor in Brave.
    What's my deal?

Scott Schreiber Not sure -- support may need to take a look? As long as you are logged in, though, you should be able to access the referral page at https://app.youneedabudget.com/referral_program .

Ben might be because I'm still technically in "free trial" for a few more days.  I'll check later.

      Thanks

Scott Schreiber You might also want to look at YNAB support's response earlier in this topic, in case this is the reason why you're not seeing it?

"The iTunes subscription is the reason you aren't seeing the referral link on your account. Our Referral Program is only valid on subscriptions started through YNAB directly, because we don’t have the ability to add free time to accounts managed by any other company.

    • Hi Scott Schreiber !

If you're still on a trial that would be the culprit! Since you don't have a subscription yet, there isn't a subscription to extend. Once you start your paid subscription, the referral option should appear. If you still don't see it, just let me know! :)

    • Tan Major If you can't find the referral link it's due to one of three reasons:

      1. You're subscribed through Apple. If that's the case, and you still want to use the referral program, we can help! You'll just need to get in touch with support ([email protected]).

      2. You haven't become a paid subscriber yet and are still on the free trial.

      3. You're using the mobile app. The referral link is only on the website, but you can find it by visiting your Account Settings page in your mobile browser.

Please let me know if you're still not finding it!
