Unable to link to Sychrony Bank

I tried to link my Synchrony bank savings account but i get an error message "The login information wasn't recognized. Try logging in to your institution directly, then try again here." I tried doing so and was able to login directly without issue yet ynab continues to fail with this same error message.

    I took a look and I'm seeing an error on your Synchrony connection that typically means invalid credentials have been entered. In these cases, our Direct Import partner asks us to check a few things to make sure we leave no stone unturned!

    Here are some things you can try that should help resolve this issue:

    — Check to make sure the URL you use to log into your online banking account matches the URL you see in YNAB.
    — Double check to make sure you're entering the correct credentials. If you’re using a password manager, try entering your login credentials in manually.
    — Log into your financial institution's online banking account, then immediately try reconnecting the account in YNAB.

    • Faness Already done. I can click the link ynab provides in the error message and login with the exact same credentials i gave ynab, tried multiple times just to make sure there was no typo.

    • Coral Battery Uh oh. It sounds like Synchrony may have turned off permissions for third-party access. Our Direct Import partner is still looking into this, so hopefully they'll be able to confirm or fix the issue.

    • Faness apparently i got inaccurate info from Synchrony and the link has been fixed.  However I have run into a new problem,  I have to deal with Synchrony about.

    • Faness i got my accounf unlocked with Synchrony, they got crazy security... but now ynab is no longer accepting my password again... and the unlock only lasts 24 hours ugh.

    • Coral Battery A colleague of mine reached out via email. Our Direct Import partner needs to know the URL you use to log into Synchrony directly. Once they have that, they can confirm if it's the same institution they're currently working through.

    • Faness Ok i see it, went to my spam folder sorry. The url is the same one listed on the ynab screen, https://securelogin.synchronybank.com/SynchronyFinancial/as/loginUserActionGetOnly

      It did work for a little while where it accepted the username and password and asked to text a verification code but Synchrony's security procedures are a bit odd they won't send the code to the number i gave when i opened the account they pull phone numbers from a third party database that does not have my correct phone number so Synchrony had to fedex a printed code to me but now it won't accept the username and password again,  they disabled the phone verification for only 24 hours after i verified the printed code which is about half gone now too.

  • And now it's back to working again,  now that the 24 hours has expired so it's prompting me to send a security code to a phone number that's not even mine... thanks Sychrony (NOT!) so secure I can't even get into my own account I think I need to start researching alternatives.
