Icon badges not always updating

I often notice that the YNAB icon badge is showing a count but when I open YNAB the count goes down so it is not maintaining its accuracy. I have checked the background app settings and everything seems to be turned on.

I have noticed this behaviour on both my iPad and iPhone.

Have anyone else noticed this, is there a setting somewhere I need to check, or perhaps the iOS apps are working as designed.

    Once you open the app, if you pull down on the screen to force a refresh, are the numbers staying the same? If so, if you then close the app, are you seeing the same number (that doesn't match) there?

    If things still aren't adding up, you can submit a Bug Report so our development team can take a closer look! :)

      Faness hi, the app usually refreshes when I open it or switch to it and badge values correct themselves, so there is no problem at this point.

      My question relates to whether the badges should synchronise in the background and if so how often?

    • iwaddo The notifications should be accurate as long as you're logged into your budget and have internet access. If you see notifications on the mobile app, but then address them on the web app or another device, there may be a delay on that number updating but that shouldn't be a regular occurrence.

  • I just opened the IOS app after a vacation and there were no badges at all, yet 24 transactions were waiting to be processed.  I am not finding the answer in the above replies.  We were not using the app on any other device during this period.  Thanks for any ideas on how to ensure badges sync with transactions needing to be coded.  Thanks

    • Nancy Gamble Are you looking for badge notifications on your home screen  YNAB icon or the Accounts icon in the YNAB iOS app?

      For badge notifications on your home screen, they may be turned off—and you can enable them by tapping the More menu (three dots), select Settings then Notifications, and update the toggle to green.

      When you have transactions to import, approve or categorize, you'll see a red dot with a number on that Accounts icon in the iOS app. That link has a visual of what it looks like! If you're not seeing the red dot in the app, could you grab a screenshot and let our Bugs team know? They'd be happy to investigate.
