How to tell difference between scheduled and imported transactions

When reconciling things (on the web, but probably also applies to mobile) is there a way to tell if a transaction is a scheduled or imported item? I'd like to know if it's a scheduled item that hasn't happened yet and that's why there's no link, vs. an imported transaction.

  • Hi Sea Green Cornet !

The Cleared column (the little green 'c' at the end of the transaction row) is the best way to tell those two apart. Imported transactions will always be cleared automatically - since the information is coming from your bank, we know the transaction was cleared. If a transactions is scheduled, it will be entered as uncleared, and you can clear it once you confirm it has taken place in your bank account.

  • Thank you. That makes sense. However, it seems rather subtle. I would like to suggest that you consider showing this in some other way. The chain icon that is used to show an imported transaction that was linked to a previously existing transaction is very helpful - maybe another icon for manually entered and one for scheduled (a little calendar icon). And maybe manually entered transactions don’t need anything if the others are clearly marked. Just something to consider. Thanks again for a great product!

  • I think this is related, but it would be nice especially if transactions that repeat would indicate that somehow, maybe with a little calendar icon (perhaps where the link is, because once linked, the active schedule one should be in the future).

    • Spring Green Harp An indication that a scheduled transaction has a recurrence defined would be useful and probably cut down on errors. A "curved arrow" next to the date would do nicely.

  • I flag/tag all my scheduled transaction with a color so I can easily tell them apart from other transaction.

You're really asking whether something is pending or not, which is precisely the function of the cleared icon.  Similarly, the distinction between manually entered and scheduler entered is quite apparent, though I personally don't treat them any differently. (I manually entered it into the scheduler, after all.)

In short, I wouldn't want the clutter of additional/redundant icons.

dakinemaui I agree I wouldn't want more icons. But maybe the cleared column could be at the start with all the other icons or flags, so all the different "small" pieces of information are together on the left of the screen.

Ceeses When I clear, I’m usually looking at the amount. It’s nice to have the cleared flag close to the amount.

Habanero Salsa putting the columns in any order you want would be awesome.
