So I can't see a running balance on any of my accounts. Am I missing a button somewhere? I've only been doing this YNAB thing for one day and I'm already way out of whack from my bank accounts... surely I could spot the problem if I could just find the running balance column.

When you add an account to your budget, the Starting Balance should have the current date and account balance. If you added the account one day ago, some of the transactions may have already been accounted for in your starting balance. If those transactions have been accounted for twice, that could cause the discrepancy you're seeing.
