"Debit Card Debit" in transaction titles

My credit union transactions are coming through with "debit card Debit" at the beginning of every description.  This makes it impossible to tell who the payee is when categorizing.  Is there any way to change this behavior?

  • You can report it to support, which can pass it up the chain to the import provider so that they can change the rules for your specific bank, but if that sounds like it will take awhile, you’re right.

In the meantime, you can manually input transactions. As payees are imported, they will match your manual transactions, and your automatic payee renaming list will start to grow. After several years of using YNAB I am amazed sometimes at payees I’ve stored in this way...I stopped at a fast food joint on a multi-state road trip this weekend and obviously I have stopped there some time in the last 3 years because YNAB imported “ARBYS 123456 CITYSTATE” as “Fast Food.”

  • Thanks, I'm sure you're right, and after the first full month I'll have  most of my payees set to auto-rename.  Good advice.

    • Hi Sky Blue Pony !

I tried to take a closer look at which credit union you were referring to, but I'm not seeing a YNAB account associated with your forum email address. It sounds like you may have a plan for handling those payees, but if you want us to have our Direct Import partner take a look, just write in to support and we'll take it from there! :)

Sky Blue Pony I hope you don’t mind if I jump in for Faness here! Instead of posting your wife's email address here on the forum, go ahead and reach out to help@ynab.com and let us know what's going on! You can just reference this post (don't forget to include which email address the YNAB account is under) and we can take it from there! 😊
