Does YNAB plan to add connections to UK banks, such as Natwest?

Our CPO just answered a similar question in the Upcoming Changes to Direct Import thread. One of our import partners offered connections to UK financial institutions, but the connections were unstable and were eventually removed. While we do hope to someday be able to expand to international financial institutions, this isn't something we see on our short-term horizon.

Faness The import partner most visible in the app appears to be Plaid, who I've used on a personal time project. While just linking my own accounts I found them quite reliable, the only issue was for banks which didn't support open banking. Hopefully with the introduction of Plaid ynab can at least offer beta access to the UK banks

Thanks, I have looked at the https://syncforynab.com/ integration and I am going to trial this and see how I get on. I love YNAB and therefore hope you manage to add this extra fiunctuionality for UK users one day - I would be glad not to have to pay the extra subsription to syncforynab!

Coral Keyboard I don’t know much about the service you mentioned but I would always advise you to take extreme caution with whom you choose to share banking login and transactional information with.

Coral Keyboard That service uses Truelayer(very similar to Plaid who ynab use) and open banking. While the open banking aspect is secure, as would your bank login details (as they wouldn't be stored with syncforynab) there is always the risk that copies of your financial transactions are sitting on someone else's server, how securely they are stored is anyones guess (maybe its mkre secure than how ynab stores its budgets, maybe less)

New to YNAB, post sign-up realised that YNAB don't have any direct import of transactions from UK bank accounts. Does that means the statements needs to be uploaded manually or YNAB is not meant to be for UK users? Thanks, P

Magenta Deer Welcome to YNAB! At the moment, we support Direct Import for financial institutions in the US & Canada. However, you can customize your budget currency and download a file from your bank, then drag & drop it in YNAB with File-Based Importing!
