IPAD app opens up one month out

There seems to be a bug. When opening the app, if it's January it opens on February about 7 times out of 10, can this please be investigated.

  • Are you using a bookmark? Check the URL you have saved. It probably points to February. It should read

    https://app.youneedabudget.com/

    with nothing following.

  • Just using the application icon. Not a bookmark. Just opened it a few times again. It's opened on Dec 2019, March 2020 then February 2020. None of which are valid.

    • DavidG Are you using the mobile app on your iPad? It is possible to change months when you swipe left or right on the Budget screen. This is different than the iOS app. Does that sound like what's happening here?

If you navigate to a different month and minimize it, the app will stay open to the month you were looking at. When you force close the app, it will reopen to the current month. Let me know how it goes!

Nicole Nope. As others are saying, if we close it or put it to the background, e.g. by opening another app, it switches to another month instead of the current month. It just happened just now when I typed the previous message, i.e. it was on Feb 2020, then I came here to type the message, then when I switched back to the app it was sitting on Mar 2020.

      Hope that helps.

  • I have this same issue. It appears that the app switches to the month after the current month when it goes into the background. I am having to manually switch back to the current month often.

  • Just wanted to report I am also seeing this happen on the app on my iPad with iOS 13.3. The app advances the current screen one month each time it goes into the background. Here is how I’m reproducing it:

    • Open YNAB to the current month (February)
    • Switch to another app (Mint)
    • Switch back to YNAB. It will now show March as the current month.
    • Switch to another app (Mint)
    • Switch back to YNAB. It now shows April as the current month.

I tried to get it to go further out than that but it stops at two months out. This has really been throwing me off - I keep accidentally starting goals a month or two too late, budgeting in the wrong month, and having to redo my work.

  • Yes, this is happening to me as well. Yesterday most times I opened the app it opened for Jan 2020, once it even opened for Dec 2019. Today it is opening for Mar 2020. Basically it never opens in the current month. It’s a minor thing but also somewhat comfusing like when you open it up and everything is orange until you realise you are looking at March.

This is not using the web app, it’s the “mobile” app on iPad with iPadOS 13.3.1, and it’s not down to us accidentally swiping left of right, something has changed to cause this to happen.

  • Hi all,

When you have a moment, can you submit a Bug Report? That way, our bug squashing team can take a look at each of your accounts. It sounds like this may be a new bug, but they'll be able to provide more details here. :)

Nicole Glad to hear a fix went out. Also not mentioned, I would swipe left continuously on the budget screen and the same month would keep displaying.
