Importing from USAA: "The login information wasn't recognized. Try logging in to your institution directly, then try again here."

I'm not able to import USAA transactions. I'm prompted with the message in the subject and given a field for my USAA username. I've entered it only to get the same response. This happens in both the web UI and the Android app.

I've unlinked the bank from my budget then tried to link it again. The same thing happens.

The YNAB status page lists an active event but USAA is not part of it as of this time and actually shows a 99% connection success rate.

I'm able to log into the USAA website directly.

Anyone else having this experience?

  • Hi Mathew Snyder and mrflippy !

Unfortunately, we aren’t able to troubleshoot Bank Importing issues in the forum

When you have a moment, please fill out this form and our Direct Import team will help you get things back up and running! :)

  • I'm having the same issue. The login was working earlier in the week.

  • I've unfortunately cancelled my renewal due to the headache downloading USAA transactions. They are working on OAuth authentication for direct imports though. I'll circle back in a year or two to see if anything has improved.

    • Khaki Disk We're sorry to see you go, but we understand if YNAB doesn't suit your needs at the moment! We've recently made progress with OAuth authentication, so I'm to hope it won't take that long before things are running smoother. You can reach out at anytime for an update and we'd be happy to let you know! :)

  • USAA has a banner up that they are changing how logins will work.  I have seen it changed in a few places but it's not consistent yet across all the platforms that I am using.
