How to Categorize different types of income?

Hey yall,

I'm familiar with Everydollar and new to YNAB. I really enjoy categorizing different income amounts, e.g. Husband's main job, Husband's side businesses, my job, and passive income.

How can I do this in YNAB?

I understand YNAB is not a zero-balanced budgeting tool like Everydollar, but I really enjoy looking back on what income came in and from where. It helps keep us motivated in working to do better and gain more.

  • You use the Payee so that it's categorised in the reports. Then you can put the real Payee in the memo field if you need it.

Purple Hammerhead They will appear separately in the Income vs Expense report. With monthly totals, the total for the selected period and the average over the selected period.

  • THe others have answered your questions about income, but I want to assure you that YNAB is absolutely a zero-based budgeting system.  You can only budget the dollars you have and no more.
