"Qpc Cancel" Refund?

I made a purchase the other day at B&H Photo, and the charge went through and I got the product. In YNAB though, there is what appears to be a refund transaction on that same day, for the same amount, and the payee is "Qpc Cancel B&H Photo".

I hadn't cancelled the order, and there is no such transaction when I look on my actual credit card's website, nor any temporary transactions. The original payment transaction is cleared.

Any idea what could cause this 'refund' transaction to appear?

  • Hi Gold Mixer !

Occasionally, direct import can do some odd things. When you have a moment, can you use this form to report a Bank Importing Issue? Our Direct Import Team can take a closer look at why those reverse transactions are importing.

    • I also submitted a ticket for this issue this morning - it appeared that two large deposits had been reversed, which was scary, but I think it's just a glitch.

Faness Ok, I've submitted a report as you suggested. Looks like some other people on here have had the same issue, so it must be a bug.

Thank you for submitting those reports! There are a lot of moving parts with direct import, so the best way to investigate is to have our Direct Import Team take a look at your accounts. It looks like a number of YNABers are seeing this issue, but they'll be able to pinpoint which financial institutions are affected and report this to our import partner for a fix! :)

  • Is the transaction actually imported as a refund?

    • Hi Gray Robot !

If you haven't already, please report a Bank Importing Issue. That way our Direct Import Team can take a closer look at your accounts. I see another YNABer on this thread also mentioned this is happening in their Citi account, so it may be an issue with how Citi is reporting transactions to our import partner.

  • My payroll direct deposit from last week just imported again, reversed into a "QPC Cancel" debit.  (After still being stuck doing the "authorize twice to import once" dance, only to have it go immediately back to "Reauthorize" afterward.)

Oh, and now the "Reauthorize" window pops up on its own seemingly at random.

Boy, this Plaid integration is just getting better all the time!

    • Aquamarine Cartridge Sorry for all the trouble! If you haven't already, please report a Bank Importing Issue. With all of the dancing you've had to do, our Direct Import Team may have a better dance partner available for you (or at least know how to turn the channel to a better tune). :)

  • I had this issue on two transactions with a citi card as well today.

  • We have seen the same issue on 3 transactions between May 9 -13 that generated a double transaction and then a Qpc Cancel transaction.

Everything balances out, however checking it against the credit card invoice shows no such double/cancel transaction, (just the original transaction).

Tried to submit a ticket, but we couldn't really find a option that made sense for this bug.

    • Hi Cyan Ink !

Did you try this link to report a Bank Importing Issue? If you select that you're having a direct import issue (which includes any issues with transactions), you can continue through the form and select Other when asked what the issue is (then type in details).

  • Same thing here this morning - a bunch of double transactions on my Citi Credit Card, weird refund title naming, and changing outflow to inflow. Submitted a bank importing issue as I have no idea what I need to do to fix this.

  • I have been having the same duplicate + "Qpc Cancel" refund issue with multiple Citi credit card transactions. In my case, they were all online purchases made using Citi's virtual account number feature.

I have already submitted Bank Importing Issue ticket as directed by the support team above.

  • Same issue here beginning May 28.  I've submitted a report, but in the meantime should I continue to "approve" the legitimate outflow entries and just ignore the bogus inflow entries?

Robin Y  - wondering the same thing. I was planning on just Deleting or Rejecting the fake inflow entries, but not sure there's any reason not to do that until this is properly fixed

    • Hi Robin Y and Will !

You should delete any transactions that appear in YNAB that didn't actually take place in your bank account. If they are duplicates or reverse transactions, deleting them will keep your YNAB account in sync with your actual account.

Hopefully, our Direct Import Team will be able to get your accounts ironed out soon! :)

  • I am having the same QPC cancel issue plus lots of duplicates. I did submit a bank reporting issue form. My wife and I just spent over an hour reconciling our Citi Double Cash account to take care of all the duplicates and false credit transactions. Ever since the conversion to Plaid, my Citi account has been a mess. Before Plaid I never had an importing issue. Part of the reason I use YNAB is to make my life easier. I sincerely hope these issues with Plaid can be worked out. I have far too many transactions to manually enter, and again, YNAB should make this easy.

  • Also having this problem with my Citi credit card account. I've submitted a support ticket.

In the meantime - any reason I shouldn't just Reject those duplicate "Qpc Cancel..." refund transactions as they come through? Other, legitimate transactions seems to be importing properly

Will I would. Reject them or delete them, either way. A dupe is a dupe.

  • I'm also having this issue (Qpc Cancel). In addition, I am having issues with auto importing transactions from my credit union...it's been 5 days and none of my transactions are getting pulled in. I know I can probably download and import the transactions, but I'm lazy :).

Was it a good move to start using Plaid? I don't recall having so many issues before they were in the mix.

    • Hi Maroon Piccolo !

Overall, the move to Plaid has been successful, but we're seeing a few widespread issues that's making it look less than pleasant. When you have a moment, please report a Bank Importing Issue so our Direct Import Team can get things up and running for you! :)

I am also having sync issues with three other institutions. I will send be sending reports on them also.  Very disappointed with the Plaid move.

  • We are having the same problem.   Looks like it's been going on for at least a month.

I'm sure there's something I don't understand about the complexity of importing....but on the other hand...it's really frustrating constantly dealing with programming snafus and connection snafus, etc.

We've been members for several months, and we've experienced problem after problem after problem...we can never go more than a few days where everything seems to be working.

YNAB needs to realize that their budgeting system is hard enough to understand as it is...but when YNAB also throws in various programming issues, users can get REALLY confused because it takes a while just to figure out if the issue is something the user doesn't understand (about YNAB's "normal" operation), or if the system is ACTUALLY doing something it's not supposed to be doing.
