How do I see category spending in iOS client?
Today I was about out of gas, so I stopped at a gas station, filled up, and bought a car wash. In the car wash tunnel I pulled out my iPhone to record the transaction. After recording, it was clear that I had spent about $200 more on fuel this month than I had expected. In fact, I thought I had spent about $200 in the past few days, which seemed wrong. Did I or my spouse misrecord a recent large transaction, such as groceries?
I tried and tried to have the app tell me where I spent all of that fuel money. On YNAB4 it was as simple as clicking the budget balance for a category, but doing so in nYNAB only resulted in the app cajoling me to cover the budget shortfall. Yes, I will cover the shortfall later, but right now, in the car wash tunnel, all I want to know is how I spent all of that money.
Is there some secret to looking at the category transactions on the iOS client?

Sorry for the run around there! To see the spending in that category, tap on the category and then tap on the Details button. On that page, there's an Activity for JAN [this changes depending on the month] - tap there and all of the transactions for that month in that category will be listed.
Give that a try and let me know if it gives you any trouble!

Faness at YNAB In the YNAB4 app I could view more than a month's history in each category at one time. Is there a way to do this in the new app? It would be nice to have that option. I only migrated from YNAB4 to the new version because you guys weren't supporting that software anymore. It was an excellent budgeting tool which I've recommend to many people. I know there is a learning curve, but so far I miss the YNAB4's functionality.

Sorry to hear you're missing YNAB 4! While we no longer support the program, it will run for as long as it's compatible with your current computer - we just don't intend to release any future updates or upgrades to the program.
As for the new YNAB, currently, multiple months of activity can't be viewed at the same time. I'll let our development team know you'd like to have this option in the app! :)

Faness I see how to do this from the phone app but when I am on my computer I don't see the same details button. I use my phone sometimes but I like to budget on my computer where I can pull up my bank account at the same time and see all my categories without scrolling up and down.

Cadet Blue Mermaid Hi! In the web app, if you want to see all the transactions in a category for a particular month, click the number in the Activity column and you'll see a drop-down list. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Aha! That was it. Many thanks. I remember now, there were $200-ish in fraud fuel charges (spouse's card was compromised) that the bank later refunded. We parked the charges in the fuel budget and have not yet entered the refund. Thanks for the fast reply.
