As much as we'd love to get the whole world on a budget, we lack the resources in our small team to manage the complexities of translation to any other language at this time.
The overall hold up isn't just the software, but the educational and support aspects. If we have the software in different languages, people also expect us to have support material and email support in that language as well.As we grow, we may explore localization into many languages, but time will tell!

Nicole at YNAB ok. That's sad. I'd love to lead a YNAB class at church, but half of our church are Spanish speakers. We have bilingual services at least once a month, and hold separate services the rest of the time. Don't be afraid of success, the competition will not be waiting around. Has anyone experimented with the browsers that translate the page?

Ben K. Machine-translated websites say to customers, "We didn't care enough to do this right." No company in its right mind would rely on them—and furthermore, modern browsers tend to already offer machine translation when presenting a website not in the native system language.
This is not a defense of failing to internationalize, which I agree is important, but I think if you ask around you'll find that a lot of your parishioners know enough English that the smattering of English words in the YNAB interface are not going to be a problem. Most of them probably use English-language software daily.

mamster I tried setting chrome to Spanish, it only changed one word in the whole app that I could see. Everything else must be a picture.

On their laptop, they have everything set to Spanish (Office, the keyboard layout, etc. ). It was frustrating for both of us. I know windows and office, but the Spanish versions just seemed to place the buttons in different places (thanks microsoft) and not being able to have a translation of the actions, I didn't want to take too many chances. I have a limited vocabulary and reading ability. I'm working on it. Anyway, that's what brought it to mind. I totally agree the children and youth wouldn't have a problem at all, but many of the families are first generation immigrants and move around to follow the growing/farming season. I'm glad they call our church home during part of the year.

need this aswell, I am willing to translate articles and the whole app, plus, there's already a lot of educational videos and resources for YNAB in spanish, a simple interface translation can not be that hard to implement and would mean a lot to me, i would be able to spread the use of YNAB to my friends and family.

We currently don't have the resources to translate all of our material or produce it in multiple languages, so it isn't in our plans for the foreseeable future.
All this being said, I do have a few suggestions, because I do think it’s possible to use YNAB in a different language:
- You can customize all your categories so they're in your language, which may help you feel more comfortable.
- You can use your local currency.
- While we can only offer our support documents in English, Google translate (or a similar tool) can be incredibly powerful!
We know it's not the same as an English experience, but I hope it helps!

I believe the Toolkit gives you a Spanish mode, though since I'm not a Spanish speaker myself I can't really say how accurate/complete it is.

Ben I never noticed this! I speak Spanish often enough at home, but as much as I interact with my budget, that'd be another great exposure. Off I go, to play with that.
Of course, it does nothing for the mobile app, but still.

welp i'm already using the toolkit and it does partially translate the app, but simple things like changing the column "BUDGET" to "PRESUPUESTO" are not happening, don't know why. Wish I had the time to dig into the code myself to try and fix that.
Ben Khaki Storm weeell maybe i exaggerated with the word "lot" but, just googling "YNAB español" will bring up plenty of tutorials plus there's a couple of blogs and webs entirely dedicated to the subject like "controlatusfinanzas.com" or something like that.

I don't have any Mac, so I can't check out this book https://itunes.apple.com/es/book/ynab.-pon-en-orden-tu-economia/id1031088775?l=en&mt=11 but it looks like an attempt to explain YNAB method and enough English translation to be able to use the app.

Ben Khaki Storm I still don't have a way to view the itunes book, but I noticed the publish date is 2015. Most likely, for an old YNAB.

Ben Khaki Storm I took a look because I wasn't familiar with the book and you're correct, it's for YNAB 4 - a previous version. Here's the description listed at that site:

I can't believe there is no Spanish version for this app. Millions of Americans speak Spanish. I'm a Spanish teacher. Are you hiring? I'd love to work on a Spanish version of this product.

I wish I had a better update, but this still isn't something we see becoming available in the near future. We still don't have the resources necessary to make YNAB multi-lingual. We're not currently hiring, but you can keep an eye on our Careers page for future listings.

Khaki Storm I think that heavily depends on the teacher. I had two Spanish teachers in school and 6 months with the first got me through 2.5 years with the second (with no additional effort). Had I stuck with the first, I'm sure I'd be fluent by now.

Due to the lack of Spanish support and the many problems that I had over this weekend, I have decided to discontinue use for this product. You all still have A LOT to work on.
