Feature Request - Capped Monthly Funding goal

I didn't see a feature request forum, or thread, feel free to point me to the right place as this isn't a bug, but missing functionality.

I really wish we had the option for the monthly funding to put a cap on it.  Say I have a category called "Mad Money" that I want to budget 100 per month to normally.  I also don't want the category to grow over 300.  This would be immensely helpful when a new month rolls over and I got to quick budget all categories based on my goals.

FYI: Target Category Balance does NOT work for this scenario because if using quick budget it will automatically put the whole amount in.  Also if you then spend from this category it will show up as yellow/orange for the goal not being met.

Please consider "Monthly Funding Goal" with a cap option!  Thanks ynab!

  • Hi Xenius ,

First, thanks for caring enough about YNAB and budgeting to share your feedback with us!

I wanted to let you know that we’re in the process of developing an area for feature requests here on the forum. In the meantime, we ask that all feature requests be emailed in to our support staff at help@youneedabudget.com . But you won’t have to do that for this request!

I went ahead forwarded your feedback to our Design Team :) They collect it—every last bit of it—in a database. Just about every day, they go through all of it and code it, asking questions like Where is this person in their budgeting journey? What problem are they wanting to solve? Then, in regular research cycles they analyze all this collected feedback to plan for what’s next in YNAB.

All of which is to say: Even though this isn't specific feedback on your feedback (!), your feedback is important and it's in the very best hands.

I’m going to close this topic, but if you have anything to add this request, feel free to reach out to us!
