Filter AND vs OR

Is there a way to filter but make the search inclusive? Right now multiple tags result in OR type clauses. I would like AND. Thanks

  • Yes. AND, OR, & NOT should be basic requirements of any search utility, as well as quotes for phrases.

  • Well if we are going extremes, i would have requested the feature of writing "pay off mortgage" and have that execute with someone elses money but you do you....

      RIP_MSMoney That's a good option too.

  • Hi RIP_MSMoney !

Is there a specific AND statement you're trying to use? The Customizing and Filtering Transactions Help Doc has an example of how to search for transactions that are in the Dining Out category and above $30.  Does that sound like what you'd like to do?

Faness Memo: text1, Memo: text2 works like an OR search. Memo: text1, Inflow: <=30 works like an AND search. The only difference between the two is the first uses the same field both times. What if I want Memo OR Inflow? Or Memo AND Memo? Or Memo NOT Memo?

    • adriana01 You're right - when searching the same field twice, the search becomes an OR search. When searching multiple fields, it becomes an AND search. There currently isn't a way to alter that behavior.

Faness as adriana01 mentioned, search for multi items in the same area does not work. For instance, I am trying to search for my own tags of "#aztrip, #food" which acts as an OR. I am able to fake the result by doing "#food, Memo: #aztrip" but "Memo: #food, Memo: #aztrip" is an OR.

    • RIP_MSMoney Currently, that is expected behavior. Would you mind submitting a Feature Request so we can run this by our Product Team?

RIP_MSMoney Thanks for sharing the "searchstring1, Memo: searchstring2" workaround. I was frustrated with this today.

  • I was looking for a NOT the other day. Wanted to see all my charity except for one payee. Thinking about it, I'll probably just change the category for that one payee.
