Logged in and found over budget errors going back years
I just logged in this morning to perform my morning balance and I went from $100 to be budgeted to -$17K. I tracked errors going back years with additional amounts added to envelopes I don't even use any more.
Support suggested that I quick budgeted somehow but I don't use that feature and it happened at login so there was no undo available. I guess I need to wipe 4 years of data and start again. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this?

No need to lose any data.
Ifyour account balances are correct, just ensure categories are what you think they should be IN THE CURRENT MONTH.
If accounts are incorrect, make an adjustment transaction to make them correct, then proceed as above.
Check the hidden categories, too. Most people would not want them to have funds.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've corrected the obvious ones however it will be impossible to get back to how I left my budget last night and my credit card amounts and multiple categories are incorrect and untraceable at this point.
It is probably easier to start again at this point or just use a spreadsheet as I can't trust my numbers. I had weird amounts in categories such as vacations from years ago. It's just a $17K mess.

engrob I don't know YNAB's backup process, but's it's conceivable they could roll back to a less broken state.

Habanero Salsa Yes, it's a huge pain and very scary. 4-year user and this has never happened. I will be sure to export my budget to CSV weekly if I'm able to get to a point to continue using YNAB. Guess I trusted it a little too much :(

Again, "starting over" nukes both transactions and the budget. If you want to nuke just the budget, go to last month and hit the "Set Available to $0" quick budget button. Switch to this month, hit that button again. Done -- exactly as a Fresh-Start would leave the budget but with transactions intact.
