Re: Parents: Can I Get Some Help With True Expenses?
@Superbone 100% I did my own laundry but that was about it. I think a little more responsibility would've done me good. I love the idea of them being able to cook.…

Re: Parents: Can I Get Some Help With True Expenses?
@Superbone Thank you!! I hate the idea of her starting out her adult life with student loan debt. Nothing like a little motivation to get that debt paid off!

@Navy Blue Pegasus that's smart. Glasses will probably be inevitable. That's a conversation my wife and I will need to have. Our daughter will definitely need to be financially responsible in some…

Re: Parents: Can I Get Some Help With True Expenses?
@dakinemaui That's exactly what we're doing. Just a monthly contribution to a 529 at Vanguard. The category is in YNAB but it's not being tracked. Senior trip is a good idea.…

Re: Balance Sheet For Personal Use
Thanks! Yeah, I’m fluent I accounting because I’ve always run my own business. I just want to see proper financial statements. I’ll look into these and report back!

Re: How to get out of living paycheck to paycheck
I could be off base but it sounds to me like you're playing the credit card float since you're paying your card off each month. So... Why don't you just pay the minimum for this month,…

Balance Sheet For Personal Use
I love YNAB for managing cashflow in my personal life and my small business but I’d like to maintain a personal balance sheet. It’s a bit of a stretch to use YNAB for this.…

Re: How Long Does It Take To Save A 30-Day Buffer?
@Slate Blue Pilot 4% sounds like a mortgage. Emergency fund is probably the right move if so. If we were talking credit card debt, definitely hit the debt first.

@dakinemaui you do when you’re mathematically challenged like I am. 😂 It did help me see the power law relationship which was helpful but, yeah, your method is way better!

Re: How Long Does It Take To Save A 30-Day Buffer?
@Slate Blue Pilot definitely debt first in my humble (though certainly not accredited in anyway) opinion. I think Jesse has a podcast on it early on in the series.

Re: How Long Does It Take To Save A 30-Day Buffer?
@nolesrule oh, interesting. I mean, the more the better! I think Dave Ramsey recommends 15% gross for retirement. Seems like an attainable starting point. 30% feels overwhelming to me right now haha.…

How Long Does It Take To Save A 30-Day Buffer?
